Business periodicals such as Business Week often publish their rankings of mutual funds, often on an annual basis. Business Week, for example, does publish the "Mutual Fund Scorecard" annually in their magazine, but it can be accessed online at their website. On the website, the scorecard is updated monthly or a list of top 10.


Plenty of other magazines and finance companies are in line waiting to lure you with their latest mutual fund rankings. If you use the rankings as a grocery list, you may run into problems. Not every highly-ranked mutual fund belongs in your investment portfolio. You have to look at your investment objectives, your risk threshold and how long you want to invest
